I just read OCLC's article on mash ups and was intrigued to see that people were actually doing this. Looking at all the choices was really fun. My staff are doing the trading cards and enjoying it. I thought the little picture gallery was a great idea for parents and grandparents because once the paper photo album is torn it is time for you to give it up. We can all get carried away and it would be a way to set a limit.
I am intrigued by all the fascinating ideas people come up with. The color wheel was a great way to pull together many different sites that all do the same thing with color and paint ideas. I am thinking this takes a great amount of time to do but then I think again and know that people who are technology wizards can create a mash up in no time and not even think about what they are doing.

flicker b
Okay, I have three empty posts to this blog from flicker. As you can see it takes me awhile to figure out how to get things working in the same order as they should be. This was fun to do and something that is so easy for the IT associate at the library. I make it look hard but he makes it look easy.
gnome entrance to kids dept
MPL is going through a redesign to make the library more user friendly. Too bad in the meantime it becomes so unfriendly because stuff is moved around so many time but if we want to stay open that is the way it has to be. This is the gnome entrance and you can't see the signature gnome house but it is under the first arch.
rss feeds
Oh my, this is an old dog learning new tricks but I really like all the information coming together in one place rather than needing to go to several different sites to see new information. I see this as a real time saver when collecting information on a topic for several days in a row or just keeping up on the newest information. I thought it was going to be difficult to do this but bloglines makes it very simple once you figure out how to get there and if your computer is running at full speed and actually loads the information. I had problems yesterday with everything hanging up and I am sure it was on this side not at bloglines.
RSS feeds are a great way to keep the public informed of what is going on in the library. The easier we make it for information to fall in the users hands the better it is. Our website guy does a great job of keeping up with all the information and making it easy for the patrons to use.
All for now. Dewy on!

7 1/2 habits
I really liked the tutorial and wish I would have had it in Anaconda for my Literacy Students. Lifelong learning has been a huge part of my life and the obsticles are always the most difficult to overcome. Goals are easy to set but something always gets in the way and slows the process down.
It is much easier to overcome the obsticles if the learning is something you are really committed to and not just something required of you for your job or some other obligation. At this point in my life I only do the learning I am really interested in.

Hurray I did it!
The first part of the first lesson is complete and it wasn't as painful as I anticipated.
